Ambrosia Software has released SoundBoard 2.0, a substantial upgrade to its live sound effect software.
The software aims to recreate the cart machines of old radio, with the awesome simplicity of one-click activation, letting you add audio stingers to your recordings and live audio broadcasts. (Macworld, for example, uses SoundBoard to power the silly sound effects during each episode of our Pundit Showdown.)
New in version 2.0 is a technology Ambrosia calls Soundpipe Audio Routing, which allows for capturing Soundboard’s audio output in any recording software, without relying on any other hardware or software. The software has also undergone a substantial makeover, and now sports unified, single-window controls, along with per-effect volume sliders and more advanced audio control. Also improved with the 2.0 release is the software’s overall performance.
Soundboard 2.0 is a $19 upgrade for owners of the original version, and $49 for newcomers. It requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later.
