Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer Onkyo has announced new audio-video and stereo mini systems designed for home and office use.
The Onkyo CS-V645 DVD/CD Mini System (pictured), which will be available in early December with a suggested retail price of $399, supports a wide range of audio and video formats from DVDs, CDs, iPods, and USB drives. Along with playing back standard DVDs and CDs, it also supports MP3, WMA, JPEG, and DivX file formats.
For video playback, the CS-V645 upscales video to 1080p for output to HDTVs using an HDMI connection. The top of the receiver sports an iPod dock, and a USB jack is conveniently located on the front panel for easy access. It also includes a 20-preset FM tuner for good measure.
The Onkyo CS-445 CD Mini System, which begins shipping early in November with a suggested retail price of $329, plays CD, CD-R and CD-RW media with standard CD-audio, MP3, and WMA files, and also features a top-panel iPod dock and an AM/FM tuner with 40 presets. However, it lacks the CS-V645’s DVD features.
Both systems feature 40-watt stereo amplifiers and a pair of high-performance two-way bass-reflex loudspeakers with 1-inch soft dome tweeters and the company’s Onkyo Micro Fiber woofer cones. Both models also include a full-function remote control.
