ChAIR Entertainment and Epic Games plan to bring Infinity Blade to Apple’s iOS devices. The action-adventure role-playing game will be the first mobile game powered by Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 technology. Previously available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the award-winning Unreal Engine 3 is world-renowned for its toolset and cutting-edge graphics.
Infinity Blade might look familiar. That’s because you’ve already seen the game during Apple’s iPod event in September, where the game was demoed during Steve Jobs’s presentation as “Project Sword.” The game has also been featured in recent iPhone and iPad advertisements.
Early stills of Infinity Blade promise beautiful 3D visuals. The world of the game (previously seen in the free iOS app, Epic Citadel) features everything from the well-rendered castle interiors to incredibly detailed chainmail on the villains’ armor. In the game, users will play as a knight out to conquer the evil God-King and his army of Titans in order to save civilization.
Players maneuver the world of Infinity Blade with easy tap-to-move navigation. They are free to explore the castle realm, collecting weapons, treasure, and other magical objects between battles. The game features a multitude of bosses, each unique in their abilities, who become increasingly difficult as players delve further into the game. Those behind Infinity Blade promise enjoyable gameplay for both seasoned and casual gamers. Due to the intuitive combat interface and simple swiping command controls, the game is suitable for all levels of expertise.
Infinity Blade looks to be a full-bodied RPG with multiple layers of engaging gameplay. In addition to its dynamic single-player campaign, other features and content are already in the works via free updates. These include a multiplayer mode, which will allow players to challenge friends in battle through Game Center.
Although a price and release date have not yet been confirmed, Epic Games and ChAIR Entertainment say that Infinity Blade will be ready this holiday season.
