If you’ve rapidly grown tired of your MacBook Air, Grantwood Technology’s new Macvelope case offers you the opportunity to misplace it with style. Made of a vinyl exterior and a ballistic nylon interior, the Macvelope is designed to look like a standard interoffice manila envelope, from back in the days when offices used “paper” and needed “envelopes” to move it from place to place.
The Macvelope comes with standard manila envelope accessories, including a yellow flap and a red drawstring to wrap around the closing rivet. (Velcro is also used to seal the bag, just in case.) An optional Companion Bag comes in standard ballistic nylon black with a shoulder strap, for when you don’t feel like carrying the Macvelope under your arm.
The Macvelope is clearly inspired by Apple’s initial television ads showing the MacBook Air fitting into that selfsame envelope, which inspired nightmare images of accidentally running an Air through a shredder or incinerator. If that’s your preferred way of living dangerously, the Macvelope promises to keep your MacBook Air safe until you violently dispose of it.
The MacVelope ($30) and Companion Bag ($50) are sold separately or $60 for both. As of press time, the combination is on sale for $27 on the Grantwood Website.
