If it’s spring, it’s tax season—and iPad owners have a growing list of apps that can save them a trip to the accountant’s office.
Taxsoftware.com has joined the fray with its Taxsoftware.com for iPad 2010. Like other tax apps for iOS, it smooths out the preparation process by asking the user a series of simple questions that help determine the final tax bill—or, if they’re lucky, the size of the return—in about 30 minutes. Once you’ve filled out the form on your iPad, it can be transferred to your Mac or PC for filing.
While some apps focus on the simplest tax tasks, like the 1040 EZ form, the Taxsoftware.com app includes versions of Form 1065 and Form 1120 paperwork for partnerships and corporations, respectively, as well as forms for estates and trusts. (Paid tax preparers must furnish their IRS registration numbers to use the app.)
In addition to the current tax year application, Taxsoftware.com is also making is 2009 iPad app available for a free download, for users who need to file amended returns—or file last year’s forms really late.
The 2010 version of Taxsoftware.com for iPad costs $10; both versions are compatible with iPads running iOS 4.2 or later.
