On Sunday, millions of people will gather in front of their TV sets to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers duke it out in Dallas at Super Bowl XLV. Last year’s event was, according to Neilsen, the most-watched program in U.S. TV history with 106.5 million viewers.
Nothing sells new HDTVs like a big sporting event, and if you glanced at last weekend’s newspaper you surely saw lots of ads for last-minute TV sales (and the promise of delivery prior to Sunday’s game).
For those in the market for a new TV, we can help. Macworld has reviewed lots of new HDTVs, and we’ve updated our top product charts with the latest models:
- Top 40- and 42-inch HDTVs
- Top 46- and 47-inch HDTVs
- Top 50-, 52-, and 55-inch HDTVs
We’ve also put together a chart of the best HDTV product families we’ve looked at—which means that you can buy whatever size of these TVs your room (and budget) can handle and be assured you’ll be getting something good. And don’t forget to check out “ HDTVs at CES: Small steps in the big picture” and our other coverage from January’s Consumer Electronics Show for the latest trends in HDTVs.
[Note: Series reviews are based on hands-on testing and evaluation of a single size, but according to each manufacturer, the image quality and features should be equivalent for each TV in the model line.]
