Verizon Wireless customers, your time is up; pencils down, please! As of Thursday evening, Apple and Verizon have both ceased taking preorders for the Verizon iPhone 4.
The handset went up for preorder on Thursday morning at 3 a.m. Eastern for existing Verizon Wireless customers, and while some reports noted hiccups in the process, it still hasn’t stopped the companies from quickly running through their allotted supply. It seems that the demand was just as pent-up as many have expected.
However, that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. Instead, you can join the rest of the Verizon iPhone-awaiting populace by ordering one online beginning February 9 at 3:01 a.m. Eastern, or by picking one up in a Verizon or Apple store beginning Thursday, February 10 at 7 a.m. local time. Of course, with phones being sold on a first-come, first-serve basis, it’d be wise to start queueing up early if you want to grab one for sure.
It’s worth noting that Apple COO Tim Cook said in Apple’s most recent quarterly conference call that the company simply has not been able to build enough iPhone 4s to meet its current demand for AT&T alone, so it’s little surprise the Verizon models are going fast.
