The hype might suggest that many citizens of the iPhone-loving world have adopted e-books for their literary needs, but Kimico is betting there are still plenty of people with old-fashioned paper libraries in need of digital organization.
On Tuesday, the Israeli developer re-launched its BookBuddy application. The program already let bibliophiles organize their book collections by manually creating a list or by using the integrated Google Books search capability. (The list is searchable by author, title, and publication date.) The app also let users tag books with the names of people they’ve been lent to, allowing them to track down the culprit when their copy of War and Peace goes missing.
New features let readers rate those books, tag them with stars—to indicate anything from the need to reread to marking a particular favorite—and add comments about what they liked and didn’t like about the volume.
BookBuddy 2.0 is $5, and compatible with devices running iOS 4.0 or later.
