Clips, the desktop clipboard application, has been revamped with a new user interface and upgraded performance.
Clips 2.0, from Conceited Software, debuted Wednesday in the Mac App Store. The program runs in the background on your Mac desktop, recording and storing every item you copy and paste on application-specific clipboards.
The software also includes “smart clipboards” that let you do advanced searches for previously cut-and-pasted items, as well as the ability to drag and drop an e-mail, piece of text, or a Web page directly into a Clips panel. The upgrade also includes a Google Instant-style search function, refining results while you’re still typing in search terms.
The update does omit some advanced features from previous versions of Clips, including clipboard sharing. Conceited Software told Clips users who enjoy those features to skip the upgrade.
Clips 2.0 costs $5, and is compatible with any computer running Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later.
