One of the best things about city life is street food: cheesesteaks, hot dogs, gyros, and just about every tasty type of savory and sweet under the sun are available, well, under the sun—and usually for just a few bucks. But street carts are mobile; how can you find that rolling lobster truck you’ve hear so much about?
Eat St., an iPhone app from Food Network Canada, provides the answer. Produced in conjunction with that network’s new street-food show of the same name, Eat St. uses the iPhone’s location services to map out where you are, your distance to the nearest food carts, and directions to get there. (This being a Canadian product, the distances are offered in kilometers.)
The app works anywhere in North America, and its database is searchable by the type of food you’re looking to consume. If the food truck you’re looking for has a Twitter feed of its own, the app will show it to you. You can also can also check out video and tweets from Eat St. producers.
Eat St. is free, and compatible with devices running iOS 4.0 or later.
