Had enough of products involving magic yet? No? Good, because Mobee Technology hopes to amaze and delight owners of Apple’s latest wireless input devices with the power of inductive charging and its new Magic Bar.
As the members of the audience can plainly see, there is no rabbit in Mobee’s hat, and there are no more AA batteries necessary for the Apple Wireless Keyboard or Magic Trackpad when used with The Magic Bar. The included battery pack can be charged and recharged simply by sliding aforementioned Apple devices in The Magic Bar’s inductive charging bay.
The Magic Bar can work its charging charms via the USB port on an iMac or a powered USB hub (but not through, say, the USB port on a wired Apple keyboard; it doesn’t supply enough juice). It needs only about 250 mAh to charge a battery pack, and Alexandre Colot, CEO of Mobee, confirmed to Macworld via e-mail that Apple’s portable USB iPhone charger or iPad charger could do the trick. Colot also explained that The Magic Bar’s inductive charging process will take about six to eight hours to completely fill a battery pack.
You’ll be able to pick up The Magic Bar for $60 starting June 2011, and preorders begin May 15. It includes one battery pack, so if you want to charge Apple’s keyboard and trackpad, you’ll need to grab a second pack for $30.
