Chinese users of the social-networking iPad app Flipboard are out of luck, since the governemnt has blocked access to the company’s own servers—which the software requires in order to work. So much for putting the “social” in “socialism.”

As promised, publisher Condé Nast has enabled subscriptions for four more of its iPad-based periodicals: Vanity Fair, Glamour, Allure, and…Golf Digest. And, if you happen to subscribe to all four, well, you will be the only person on Earth to do so.
Apple customers affected by the March earthquake and tsunami in Japan may have one less thing to worry about: The company has offered to repair many types of devices damaged in the disaster—including Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple displays, and iPod touches—for free. There are a few geographical restrictions, but it’s still a thoughtful move from the company, which already put forth some of its stores in the country as shelters and communication stations.
