The Week in iPhone 4 Cases: Got bling?

It’s time for another iPhone case roundup, where we gather up the latest in iPhone protection. As always, this installment brings you a variegated selection from the world of portable telephonic protection—we’ve got a little bit for everybody.

BigCartel: The MetalliCover ($30) is a set of ultra-thin, metallic covers for the iPhone 4. Despite the light weight (the front and back total just 20 grams, or 0.7 ounces), the MetalliCover protects the iPhone’s glass backing from dust and scratches while adding a touch of fashion sense, thanks to its many available styles. Cutouts for ports and buttons ensure that you can use the phone as if the MetalliCover wasn’t even there.

Case for USA: If you’re feeling patriotic (and happen to live in the U.S.), you may want to check out the LifeJacket ($20 and up), a snap-on case made entirely of recycled plastic, right here in the U.S. of A. In addition to basic black, white, or models with pre-printed patterns, Case for USA’s Website allows you to create your own case from a favorite design or image. The company even donates twenty-five meals to the FeedingAmerica charity for every case sold.

ElementCase: The Formula 4 ($60) is a case made of strong, black polycarbonate combined with an aerospace-grade, carbon-fiber backplate that provides additional protection to keep your iPhone safe. The sides of the Formula 4 are also rubberized to ensure a firm grip every time.

For even more shock protection, ElementCase also offers the ION 4 ($50), which shares many of the features of the Formula 4 but is made of TPU material and sports additional padding in its rounded corners.

Mophie: The Juice Pack Plus ($100) is a rubberized case that includes a battery capable of more than doubling the power provided by the iPhone’s built-in juice pack. The case includes a pass-through USB port that can be connected to your computer for charging both the phone and the Juice Pack and syncing the phone. The Juice Pack Plus comes in black, red, blue, orange, yellow, or “limited edition” purple.

PowerSkin: The PowerSkin (price unavailable) is a similar tough case with a built-in rechargeable battery pack to double your iPhone’s use time. The PowerSkin features all the appropriate cutouts to guarantee access to the iPhone’s ports, buttons, and cameras, and comes with a LED indicator that tells you how much power is left in the case.

USBFever: Got bling? The Frame x Frame is a snap-on metal case adorned with Swarovski crystals. It comes in gold, silver, pink gold, or black onyx, and features cutouts to allow access to all of the phone’s ports, buttons, and cameras. USBFever also includes a protective cover for the iPhone 4’s screen, as well as a cleaning cloth.

WeKreat: The Panoply 4 (price unavailable) is a family of cases designed to be thin and light without compromising their ability to keep the iPhone safe. Several different models are offered, each made of materials that include TPU, polycarbonate, and fine leather. Cutouts ensure that you will still have access to all of the iPhone’s ports, buttons, and cameras.
