Samsung’s new line of printers includes two machines that let iPhone and iPad users print directly from their mobile devices.
The new SCX-4729FW and ML-2955DW printers are compatible with Samsung’s Mobile Print app, letting iOS users wirelessly print PDFs, pictures, and Web pages. The app lets Samsung bypass iOS’s AirPrint feature, which is currently compatible only with HP’s ePrint printers.
The SCX-4729FW also includes built-in scan and fax functions. Both printers have speeds of up to 29 pages per minute, and possess processor speeds of 533 MHz; they also feature an “eco mode” that lets users adjust toner use and limit carbon dioxide emissions. The printers are being pitched for home and small-business use.
The two printers are part of a broader line launch that also includes the SCX-4729FD and ML-2955ND printers, neither of which includes wireless connectivity.
Samsung’s new printer line launches in late August. The SCX-4729FW will sell for $280; the ML-2955DW will retail for $150.
