The iPhone 4S lives to fight another day in Italy, iAd may gain new life thanks to a fresh face, and the lifelike Steve Jobs figure may never see the light of day. The remainders for Thursday, January 5, 2012 are alive! Aliiiiiiiiive!
Italian court denies Samsung motion for preliminary injunction against iPhone 4S (FOSS Patents)
The Italian courts have denied a request from Samsung to block sales of the iPhone 4S in Italy. This follows a similar failure in France last month. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before Apple uses that in its marketing material.
Apple Is Said to Hire Adobe Executive Todd Teresi to Run IAd (Bloomberg)
According to Bloomberg, Apple has hired Todd Teresi, an Adobe executive, to head up its iAd program. Teresi fills the role vacated by Andy Miller, who left in August of last year, and will report to Apple senior vice president Eddy Cue. Clearly, the company hopes the new face will freshen up iAd, which has apparently lagged a bit since its introduction. Apple ‘threatens legal action’ over Steve Jobs action doll (The Telegraph)
That $99 Steve Jobs figurine we referenced earlier this week? Apparently Apple is looking to block sales of the doll, even resorting to legal action against the company behind it. HP Aims to Stand Out From Mobile-Device Frenzy With Desktop PCs (Bloomberg)
According to research firm DisplaySearch, Apple’s iMac accounted for 33 percent of all-in-one desktops shipped worldwide in the third quarter, more than any other single vendor. Amazingly, the iMac also accounted for 75 percent of combination washer-dryers sold. Nobody knows why.
Apple television gamble the talk of CES (USA Today)
USA Today weighs in on the rumors of an Apple-branded television set. The paper says that one issue Apple has yet to overcome is making sure it has content for such a device; the company is reportedly in talks with content providers for just that reason. One source also reported that Apple chief designer Sir Jonathan Ive has “a slick 50-inch TV” in his studio. Seriously? That’s the best your source could provide? The last guy at least told us that he had a La-Z-Boy and a package of Slim Jims.
