It’s time for another roundup of new iPhone cases, and as is our tradition, we’ve uncovered a wide variety of styles and designs. This week, we go from the very thin to the depths of the oceans, and from the courts of an NBA game to the festive atmosphere of a block party.
ElementCase: The Skate Legends Series gives you the chance to place your favorite skateboard design on one of the company’s cases, including the Formula 4 (iPhone 4 and 4S; $40), the COMP (iPhone 4 and 4S; $100), and the Vapor Pro (iPhone 4 and 4S; $150). Each case features excellent protection and is built using a variety of materials; dozens of designs are available.
Fabx Innovations: The Maxx Spectra (iPhone 4 and 4S; $40) is a case that combines a sturdy construction with a convenient hand strap to prevent the iPhone from slipping out of your hand during use. It comes in green, orange, grey, white, or black.
Four Corner Store: The Gizmon iCA Military Edition (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S; $70) is designed to take you back to a time when point-and-shoot involved real optics and real film. This sturdy case, made of 23 durable, polycarbonate components, transforms your phone into a viewfinder camera, complete with a detachable tripod mount and three different lenses.
Graft Concepts: The Leverage (iPhone 4 and 4S; $60) is a hard, polycarbonate bumper held in place by a custom (and cool-looking) metal latch that closes to firmly secure the case to your phone. A removable back plate, included with the bumper, gives you the option of a minimalist look or full-on protection.
id America: The Cushi Camo (iPhone 4 and 4S; $15) is a stick-on skin of cushy foam that protects the back of your iPhone and adds a splash of three-dimensional fun in the form of color and texture. The Camo’s anti-residue adhesive makes repeated applications easy, and the skin is precision-cut to work with the iPhone’s camera and to be compatible with Apple’s Bumper.
iFoolish: The Magic Drawing Case (iPhone 4 and 4S; £20) comes with a handy erasable tablet on the back for taking notes, drawing doodles, and generally keeping yourself entertained when you’ve had enough Angry Birds for one afternoon. The case is available in red.
Kees: This company’s specialty is custom cases (iPhone 4 and 4S; €38 to €48) printed using a three-dimensional technology that brings together a series of patterns and designs. You can even add your own text, which is worked directly into the design when your case is printed. Kees’s cases are available in white, black, grey, red, blue, or pink, and in a variety of materials and textures.
Lastu: The Lastu (iPhone 4 and 4S; €39) is a set (front and back) of stick-on skins made entirely of wood using a special process that makes the material resistant to water and dirt without impacting its natural feel and color. As a bonus, part of the profits from the sale of this case go towards projects that aim to restore lost forests throughout the world. The Lastu is available in oak or walnut, with optional engraving.
Niteize: The Connect (iPhone 4 and 4S; $35) is a case that protects your iPhone using shatterproof, Lexan-polycarbonate construction, while making it easy to carry the phone thanks to a stylish clip. The case comes in solid black or grey, or in translucent clear, pink, lime, blue, smoke, or orange. The base Connect Case package includes the case and belt/pocket clip, but you can also buy a car-mount cradle and a bike-mount cradle.
Opena: The Playa (iPhone 4 and 4S; $30) is in many ways your typical iPhone case: sturdy, elegant, sleek, and available in multiple colors (in this case, black, white, or pink). What’s unusual about it is the fact that it sports a very…discrete pocket that can be used to hide away a particular thing or two, as the many puns on the company’s Website clearly illustrate.
TAT7: The iPhone Scuba Case (iPhone 4 and 4S; $85) lets you take your handset in places it wasn’t meant to be. Waterproof to thirty meters, and designed to withstand all sorts of punishment, this transparent case is great for swimming and snorkelling, but also for activities in the snow or the sand. Toast: The Toast (iPhone 4 and 4S; $25 to $35) is a stick-on skin made of real wood veneer and customized with a variety of motifs and designs that combine cutouts and etchings for some really amazing effects. It’s available in several different wood materials, including walnut, bamboo, and ash.
USBFever: The Eggshell Finlandia Series (iPhone 4 and 4S; $18) is a line of tough, polycarbonate shells in a variety of designs and colors that include red, green, purple, blue, yellow, pink, and light blue. Each comes with a complimentary cable-winder stand and a screen protector.
Zagg: The Zagg Sport Leather Skins (iPhone 4 and 4S; $25) are exactly what they sound like: stick-on back skins for your iPhone that sport the logo of your favorite NBA team. The skins are made of genuine leather and feature detail and texture reminiscent of a regulation basketball.
