But what about those MobileMe customers who hadn’t yet made the switch to iCloud? If, despite Apple’s warnings, you still didn’t migrate over your MobileMe accounts, Gallery photos, and iDisk files, you’re in luck:
“For a limited time,” Apple says, you can still rescue your old data.
How much time is a limited time? Apple’s not saying, and the company didn’t immediately respond to Macworld’s request for comment. If you’re the kind of person who likes to wait until the last moment, it would appear that moment is now. Log in at me.com, and Apple will guide you through the process of embracing iCloud and backing up any data you have stored in the shuttered service.
We’ve already opined on
why Apple ditched MobileMe in favor of iCloud, but even if you will miss the old service, remember that iCloud offers at least one major advantage: Unlike MobileMe, it’s free—at least for your first 5GB of cloud-based storage. And don’t forget that you can continue to access
your old MobileMe email even after the MobileMe reprieve draws to a close.
