September is nearly here, which means that it’s time for that last visit to the beach, the lake, the cottage, or wherever you spend your time before fall brings us back into the grind. And though this fall also means—if rumors are true—a new iPhone, there are still plenty of you with the current model in the market for some protection. Here’s this week’s roundup of new iPhone cases.
CalypsoCase: The Cabrio (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S; €89) is a snap-on case that protects the back of your iPhone from dents and scratches. Made of handcrafted Italian leather, and safely preserved in a deluxe package that also includes a certificate of authenticity, it’s designed to be lightweight and sturdy, and it comes in Adelaide Tranquillity (black), Santiago Thrills (brown), Bangkok Alfresco (lime green), or Whispers in Seville (red).
Hex: The Axis (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S; $50) is a combination of a case and a wallet, made of high-quality genuine leather, that features special slots and pockets for plastic cards and cash. A convenient elastic strap keeps everything securely closed while on the go, and a camera cutout allows you take pictures and access your handset’s controls without having to remove the case. The Axis is available in black or red.
Fantabulous: The Cork Series (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S; $30) is a snap-on, hardshell back case that features an exterior veneer made of that most wonderful of materials: cork. It’s ultralight—but sturdy—and feels soft to the touch. The hardshell case is available in three different motifs, and the cork veneer is fire resistant, in addition to helping keep your safe from from unwanted bumps and scratches.
Noreve: The Perpétuelle series (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S; price unavailable) is a line of cases made of full-grain calf leather; the cases are available in both a classic and a “Couture” edition, with the latter featuring a different design motif. The case includes two pockets for cards or banknotes, and it comes in twelve colors: black, white, grey, ivory, pink, blue, red, aqua, brown, lime green, purple, and orange.
TopKase: The Aegis (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S; $60) features a unique sliding shutter that fully protects your iPhone’s screen and can be moved out of the way with the flick of a finger—the shutter even cleans your screen every time you open the shutter. The case is designed to stand up in both landscape and portrait, making it easier to watch movies on your device, and the case design improving your iPhone’s speaker performance.
USBFever: The Pill Back Cover (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S; $23) provides the perfect disguise for your iPhone by turning it into a blister pack like the ones you’re likely to find inside a box of pills. As the company’s own product information notes, talking into a box of pills may make you seem a little odd, but we figure that things should go swimmingly—at least until one of your friends gets a headache.
Vaja: The Leather Lèger Pouch (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S; $85) is a slim, leather pouch designed to keep your iPhone safe from bumps and scratches while it’s not in use. A convenient strap keeps your handset securely in the sleeve, and the combination of leather and trim, which is handmade in a process that takes twenty days, can be customized from a palette of nearly two dozen colors.
ZooGue: The Social Case Pro (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S; $15) is designed from a special kind of TPU that, to paraphrase the manufacturer, is neither too soft nor so hard that it slips out of your hand. In other words, it’s slim, lightweight, and sports a comfortable, soft surface for an excellent grip. The case comes in black, grey, white, navy blue, old spice red, light blue, pink, purple, army green, or lime green, and it is currently available for just the cost of shipping and handling thanks to a special promotion that the company is running (details on the ZooGue site).
