In my review of MoneyWiz for the Mac (), I found it to be a full-featured, visually dazzling finance app with an emphasis on tracking spending through easily customized charts and a schedule of expenditures. In testing MoneyWiz for iPhone or iPad, I found it to be similar to the Mac version in every way, especially with regards to its feature set, which is identical.
No matter which version of MoneyWiz you choose, you can set up accounts easily. Users can enter accounts manually or sync accounts with the Mac or iPhone versions. As with the Mac version, both iOS versions use the aptly named Sync Everything feature to sync accounts wirelessly across all platforms (or both platforms, if you only have two of the three versions).
If you choose to add accounts and transactions manually, doing so is easy and fast. After adding accounts, users can view a plethora of graphs and charts of their account activity. The same graphs are also available in the Mac version. Options include your spending trends, your net worth and a forecast of future recurring spending (like your water or electrical bill). You can set display parameters (“the last six months” or “this year”), too. It’s all very slick and identical to the Mac version.
Because MoneyWiz for iOS retains the same features of its Mac counterpart, the only real limitation here is the screen size of your iPhone or iPad. It takes some getting used to if you’re used to the Mac version but otherwise the convenience trumps the smaller screen size. One of the first things you notice about MoneyWiz for iOS is that it is not a universal application; it has both iPhone and iPad versions. The primary difference between the apps is the layout—functionally they perform the same tasks. You can do everything in the iOS versions that you can do in the Mac version, albeit on a smaller screen.
MoneyWiz is a slick, feature rich finance suite. While all three apps boast the wireless sync feature to keep your data coordinated, the iPhone and iPad apps are equally valuable as standalone apps.
