Microsoft and Apple are at each other’s throats over money, so it must be a day that ends in ‘y.’ Elsewhere, Apple may be inching closer to a TV as one of its partners looks to lay down some acreage in the U.S. and Cupertino’s latest product is at least a thirty footer. The remainders for Wednesday, December 12, 2012 are redundant and repetitive.

The disagreement between Apple and Microsoft over Apple’s 30 percent cut of subscription revenue is bigger than just Redmond’s rejected updated for its SkyDrive app: The much-rumored Office for iOS will supposedly also have subscription revenue. That’s a much bigger chunk of change to spar about, hence Microsoft’s reported attempt to get Apple to shift its customary 70/30 split in Redmond’s favor. Which I’m sure Cupertino will do, right as soon as Steve Ballmer spins around three times and admits that the iPhone wasn’t a flop.
Apple Moves Closer to Making TV Set (Wall Street Journal, subscription required)
Today in the Apple TV rumor watch, no less than the Wall Street Journal says Apple is in early stages of testing a television set, working with Asian manufacturers like Sharp and Foxconn parent Hon Hai. At this rate, I’m going to use up all my Apple television jokes before the thing ever comes out.
Police warn of safety concerns from Google Maps (ABC)
More trouble from the land down under: Australian authorities say that it’s not just Apple’s maps causing issues. Google Maps have led people astray in a region west of Melbourne, potentially putting lives in danger. To be fair, everything in Australia is deadly, so why should GPS units be any different?
Cuomo hints Apple behind NY development pitch (Times Union)
Some folks are putting two and two together and getting politics. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo apparently tacitly acknowledged that a proposed 3.2-million-square-foot facility for building computer chips has a connection to Apple. Speculation’s revolved around it being TSMC, a Taiwan-based fabricator that’s been rumored to take over much of Samsung’s Apple business for, uh, rumored future products. I think we’re like Inception deep in rumors now.

Android’s still winning, says Google Chairman Erich Schmidt. Which is shocking, because I really expected him to say that Apple was winning.
