According to numerous reports, Apple is working overtime to get iOS 7 ready for this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The intensive nature of the project, including its new “flat” interface, is proving time-consuming, so the company has pulled engineers from other projects, including OS X 10.9, and facilities personnel, to rip up the green felt from Game Center.

Pentagon Expected to Embrace Apple, Samsung Devices (Wall Street Journal, subscription required)
According to the Journal, the Department of Defense is planning on granting security approval for both iPhones and iPads running iOS 6, as well as Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones, allowing them to be used by Pentagon employees in sensitive positions. The key was the addition of functionality that allows messages to self-destruct ten seconds after they’re read.
American Airlines flies high with two tablet industry firsts (TabTimes)
By replacing flight bags with tablets, American Airlines has “reduced the single biggest source of pilot injuries, carrying those packs.” It’s also helped reduce the second biggest source, paper cuts, but not the third biggest source: eating the onboard meals.
