This $2 app for iPad has always added a (natch) splash of color to black-and-white photos. The latest update gives users the ability to more finely hone the editing of their pics, including the ability to adjust the brightness, contrast, and saturation of an image, as well as the option to give the black-and-white portion of the photo a sepia or blue tint.
Fraggle Friends Forever is a $4 interactive storybook app for iPhone and iPad from the fine folks at Jim Henson Digital. The app includes three modes: “Just A Book,” which your child can read; “Read To Me,” in which a narrator tells the story, and “Read and Play,” which offers games and activities throughout the narrative. The Loop Magazine is an offering from former Macworld editors Jim Dalrymple and Peter Cohen, an extended version of their Loop Insight website, full of commentary about music, technology, design, and all things apple. Subscriptions are $2 a month.
The latest version of the Netflix iOS app imports some functionality from Netflix’s Web service—namely, if you’re watching a TV show, Netflix assumes that you want to binge-watch, and automatically begins playing the next episode in a series after you’ve finished one. If you’re watching a movie, you’ll be given three recommended flicks to jump to immediately after. It’s almost as if Netflix wants you to never stop Netflixing.
This beautiful sketching app was updated this week with a nifty new feature: a pinch-and-zoom function that lets users do close-in detail work on specific parts of sketches that they choose. Other features include faster rendering of your drawings, and a new “Made With Paper” feature that offers ideas from other artists.
