This week’s roundup of iOS accessories includes a telephoto lens that’s bigger than your actual iPhone, as well as several new items for the iOS audiophile.
The $100 iRig HD is a 24-bit analog-to-digital (A/D) converter designed to create a crystal-clear connection between your guitar and your iOS device, letting you connect the two for a recording session. There’s no battery included—the iRig HD draws power from your iPhone and iPad while the two are connected.
The $30 Alu Pocket is a cozy little wall mount for your iPhone—a safe place to store the device while it powers up from a wall socket. (Better than leaving your phone lying around on the nearest shelf or getting tangled up in cables, right?) The pocket can be mounted near the wall outlet using glue-free tape, making it relatively easy remove when the time comes.
The new ParaSync i16 Universial Hub can charge and sync up to 16 iOS devices at the same time. (The hub is actually platform agnostic—meaning it can do the same with Android and Windows devices, as well. You can mix and match devices within the hub at the same time.) Parat did not announce pricing or availability.
Pioneer has introduced two new stereo receivers: the $1,100 SC-71 and the $1,400 SC-72, both 7.2-channel systems that include AirPlay support and can be controlled from your iOS device using the iControlAV2013 app. Also new from Pioneer is the $899 XDJ-R1 wireless performance DJ system.
This company has introduced three new Lightning-connector-equipped docks for Apple tablets: The IDC-100L for the iPad mini, the ICD-200L for full-sized iPads, and the ICD-T00L for the iPod touch. All three let you mount the appropriate iOS device to your wall and make it part of Savant’s climate- and light-control systems for the household.
Remember Teddy Ruxpin? The $30 Ubooly Interactive Pet is pretty much the same thing, only instead of a casette player, you drop an app-equipped iPhone or iPod touch into the creature’s body, giving it a brain and an animated face.
The $73 Super Telephoto Fixed Zoom Lens with Hard Case for iPhone 5 is basically a big aluminum-cased telescope—it magnifies images 20 times—that you attach your phone to take photos. The accessory includes a manual-focus ring, as well as a shutter cable for the iPhone so that you can pull the trigger on a photo remotely.
The $250 Origin 2-in-1 Bluetooth Speaker System is a wireless speaker system for your desktop that includes a detachable Bluetooth-enabled portable speaker, letting you take your tunes on the go. You’ll get more bass when the whole system is used together, thanks to the desktop unit’s larger drivers.
