December can be a slow time around the Macworld offices, and this year was no exception—at least until Tuesday’s news about Apple’s Macworld Expo plans broke. Nevertheless, when it came time to prepare this week’s podcast wrapping up the big news of 2008, we were left without many ideas on how to creatively do a year-end retrospective.
Which is when we came up with a great plan—steal from our betters.
There’s a great show on BBC Radio called Fighting Talk, which we’re fans of here at Macworld headquarters. The show features panelists arguing about the latest sports news and earning points for their comments from the show’s host. It’s a really fun program, and we encourage you to give it a listen via the iTunes Store.
We also thought the Fighting Talk format would be a great way to look back at the year in Macs. So join me and panelists Jason Snell, Christopher Breen, and Roman Loyola as we pay homage to a great radio program with our own edition of Macworld Fighting Talk.

Show notes
Even though Apple announced it wouldn’t participate in Macworld Expo after the show in January 2009 right as we were about to record our podcast, we still found the time to discuss it in our show. Be sure to read Jason Snell’s commentary on the Expo news as well as Rob Griffiths’ look at the end of an era for Macworld Expo.
During our podcast, we mention the recent news about Apple telling Mac users to install antivirus software and then later removing that support page. Be sure to read Christopher Breen’s recent Mac 911 post on whether you need antivirus software.
