In this week’s iPhone-case roundup, you’ll find plenty of metal, much of it married to the most modern technologies to give your phone protection that’s both high-tech and great to look at. But, if you prefer a warmer touch, we also have some great-looking leathers and a case that looks like it came straight out of a mid-Nineties MTV commercial.

The New 52 DC Comics Superheroes (iPhone 5 and 5s; $35) gives your handset the Superman makeover, complete with three-dimensional musculature and the famous S-shaped emblem.
The case sports a high-grade paint finish and comes in a collectible gift box complete with a bio of the Man of Steel.

The Ventare A (iPhone 5 and 5s; $100) is a bumper made from high-grade aluminium and inspired by the design of famed Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati.
The case is available in white, black, red, grey, gold, or silver.

The Ultimate (iPhone 5 and 5s; $48) is a protector made from an ultra-strong pane of tempered glass imported from Germany that helps keep your real screen safe from harm without impeding its functionality or visual characteristics.
Easy to install and remove, the glass is just 0.2 millimeters thick, and it includes a special coating that resists water, scratches, and skin oils.

The Sector 5 (iPhone 5 and 5s; $140) is composed of eight individual links that, together, create a modular protective accessory that keeps your iPhone safe from bumps and scratches while looking fabulous.
The case is available in gunmetal, black, or silver.

Like its name suggests, the Ice Cream Sandwich (all iPhone 4 and 5 models; $20) turns your handset into a deliciously realistic ice cream bar, complete with shiny cookie crust.
Made from a combination of plastic, aluminium, and other materials, the case offers a good combination of protection from everyday accidents—provided, of course, that you can resist the temptation of biting into it.

This company has just released a new version of its Nüüd case (iPhone 5s; $90) that’s designed to work specifically with Apple’s most recent handset.
The Nüüd is dustproof and waterproof—it can be fully submersed in up to 6.6 feet of water—all the while allowing you to continue using the Touch ID feature of the iPhone 5s without interruption.

The Candies X (iPhone 5 and 5s; $45) is made from an all-natural silicone that offers plenty of padding to help keep bumps and scratches at bay while providing a distinctive look and feel.
Designed in collaboration with the Candies brand and manufactured in Japan, the case features cutouts that make it possible for you to continue using your camera and access all of the iPhone’s functionality.

The Tough Armor (iPhone 5 and 5s; $30) provides extreme protection from scratches and falls thanks to its air cushioning system, with a 1.5-millimeter, front-facing lip that helps protect the screen when the phone is placed face-down.
The case comes in black, white, gold, gunmetal, and silver.
