After a steady stream of special audio sessions from the Macworld Expo show floor, the Macworld Podcast returns with a regular episode… that also happens to include a special audio session from the Macworld Expo show floor.
That session features Playlist senior reviews editor Dan Frakes talking about the notable iPod accessories that debuted at last month’s Mac trade show. But the bulk of this episode features news from the here and now—Adobe’s forthcoming release of Photoshop Lightroom.
Just this week, Adobe set a February 19 ship date for its workflow management app aimed at photographers. I sat down with Macworld editor-at-large Rick LePage to talk about his experiences with the Lightroom beta and where this program fits into the digital imaging continuum.
I also offer some commentary on the news of the week—the dual releases of multi-colored iPod shuffles and Microsoft’s new Vista operating system.

Show notes
Here’s the Ben Ames article on what Vista means for PC hardware that I mentioned in my opening remarks on the Vista release. In discussing the iPod shuffles, I also talk about in-ear-canal headphones; here’s Dan Frakes’ primer on canalphones.
Most, if not all, of the iPod accessories Dan mentions in his Expo segment are profiled at Playlist.
Rick’s look at the upcoming release of Lightroom will be up at Macworld.com in the next few days; his review will follow once the product ships. In the meantime, take a gander at the Lightroom first look Derrick Story wrote when the beta first came out a year ago—it will give you a good overview of what to expect from Lightroom.
