This week’s roundup of new and updated apps features advances in productivity apps like Fantastical 2 and Cloud Outliner 2. Read on to make yourself a more highly effective person.
Fantastical 2 has long been one of our favorite calendar apps, thanks to its versatility and—we still don’t get why more calendars don’t do this—combining of calendar and reminders into a single offering. It’s well worth its $5 price tag. The latest update includes a “drafts” feature: Swipe down on a new event so you can browse your schedule, then resume the draft at any time. Also new: Support for Japanese.
The $3 Cloud Outliner 2 app launched this week: It allows you to create and share outlines from your iOS devices to your Evernote account—the app includes “drag and drop” functionality for sorting and reordering rows, as well as the ability to swipe left or right to change the indentation level, along with many other features to produce outlines that help you get organized.
Office Sway has emerged from previews to help you create PowerPoint-style presentations on your iPhone. This week’s update lets you share creations on Facebook, Twitter, or with a simple link.
The $2 PadKeys offers a keyboard built just for the iPad. “With PadKeys there’ll be no more grinding to a halt when it’s time to type a number or symbol or you need to move around, because the needed keys are right there on one screen.” The latest version includes a more powerful autocorrect feature.
PGA Tour Live now offers golf fans with live access to exclusive broadcasts of Thursday and Friday early morning rounds. It’ll cost $5 a month for the service, but that’s a small price to pay for golf junkies, right?
The streaming music wars are good to Shazam, and Shazam is being good right back: The latest update to this song-identification app lets you add your discovered music to both Spotify and Rdio playlists.
Swackett has been remade—this app lets you know the forecast by showing an avatar in weather-appropriate clothing, giving you climate and fashion advice in one fell swoop. The relaunched version includes an interface overhaul, “hundreds of fashionable weather-smart clothing ideas,” Notification Center widget support, and a refined “Dog Walking Comfort Index.”
We missed Trigger when it launched earlier this summer, but as news junkies we’re intrigued by the app’s promise to push the web’s best content to us an hour before it starts showing up on “trending” lists across the Internet. This week’s update fixes a few bugs, and gives us a new opportunity to share the app with you.
