Jacobi says: “Startup August unveiled a new version of its August Smart Lock that supports Apple’s HomeKit technology today, and the company expanded its home-security offering with a numeric keypad and a doorbell camera.” The HomeKit Enabled hub will retail for $229, the Smart Keypad will cost $79, and the Doorbell Cam will go for $199. Shipping is expected in four to eight weeks.
Here’s a different idea for an Apple Watch docking station: Amber is a case—like a jewel box for an engagement ring—that holds and protects the watch when it’s not on your wrist. It’s still in its crowdsourced funding phase, but this week looked sure to meet its $50,000 production goal. Pledge $69 or more, and one of the first Ambers can be yours.
