More and more devices feature built-in flashlights these days. Two of them—the PowerClip and the Solocharg—are featured in this week’s roundup. Read on!
The $39 Quarter is a power bank that uses your Mac’s MagSafe power cord as its charger; it then takes just 15 minutes to charge your iPhone using the device. The Quarter itself is portable: At 12.5 millimeters thick, it fits easily into your pocket.
The $90 Trobla is a no-power amplifier for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus generations of phones. “Built from locally sourced and certified Slovenian wood, the sound travels smoothly through a hollowed chamber and is guided by a cone.” It’s attractive, and produces a big, clear sound.
Attach the $169 CalypsoTag to your luggage and you’ll get a notification on your iPhone when your bag comes out of the baggage carousel at the airport—and you’ll be alerted if it gets stolen or lost at another airport. The device doesn’t just protect your luggage: The stylish designs can actually make your luggage look better.
Like a lot of things from the 1990s, it seems like the idea of virtual reality is popular again. The $50 VR Kix Virtual Reality Headset is a step up, quality-wise, from the cardboard version that Google is selling these days, but the concept is the same: Drop your smartphone into the viewer, strap it to your head, and enter a new dimension.
The $60 WatchStand Powered Charging Station has two USB ports, letting the device charge both your Apple Watch and your iPhone. “You wear them together,” the makers say. “Now, keep them charged together.”
The PowerClip is a “digital Swiss army knife” that can act as a phone charger, a key and phone finder, an activity tracker, an emergency flashlight, and more. It’s still crowdfunding, but looks sure to meet its $10,000 production goal.
The $60 Color 1000 is a LED lightbulb you control from your iOS device, where you can set the color, brightness, and other settings. (You can also control the bulb from your Apple Watch.) Want to use these bulbs throughout your whole house? A four-bulb starter pack costs $240; a $10-bulb master pack is $500.
The $30 Anchor is a “simple but secure base for your Apple Watch and magnetic charging cable. Made from weighted zinc alloy with a non-slip silicon base, it anchors your watch and cable in place, preventing them from dropping to the floor when charging.”
The $30 Solocharg is a solar-powered 5,000-mAh rechargeable battery, and features a built-in flashlight. Charge two devices at once, then use the carabiner—it comes with your new Solocharg—to hook it to your gear and go.
