A trio of products share the spotlight in this edition of the Macworld Podcast. We start off with a showdown between Microsoft Office 2008 and iWork ’08—their respective spreadsheet applications, specifically. Then, we turn our attention to Photoshop Express, Adobe’s newly released online photo-editing site.
For the Office vs. iWork smackdown, I’m joined by senior editor Rob Griffiths who compared Excel 2008 to Numbers ’08 in the May 2008 issue of Macworld. Rob’s article will appear online next week, so hopefully, this podcast will help whet your appetite for more Office-iWork comparisons.
In our Photoshop Express segment, executive editor Philip Michaels interviews senior reviews editor Jackie Dove about her experiences testing out the beta of Adobe’s online site.

Show notes
My look at the week’s news concentrates on the many rumors swirling about 3G iPhones, whose release is said to be imminent by no less an authority than Walt Mossberg (who has since retracted his 60-days prediction). Fueling such speculation are such seemingly unrelated news items like the reported shortage of iPhones and AT&T’s Ralph de la Vega saying that all of the company’s smart integrated devices will be 3G in the next few months.
As I mentioned above, Rob’s Excel-Numbers comparison won’t be online until next week, but you can read his reviews of Microsoft’s spreadsheet app and Apple’s counterpart; also check out our Business Mac topic center for all the latest on productivity apps.
Jackie Dove wrote a first look at Photoshop Express based on her experiences with the beta. Macworld.com also has the latest on Adobe changing the terms of use for its service after receiving customer complaints.
