Version 2.0 of Alive launched this week, with an array of new features that let you more easily convert pictures into moving images. The user interface has a new design, you can edit still pictures in the Live Video function, and there is improved sharing to Facebook, Twitter, and Messages.
Chef ChopChop is an “artificial intelligence chef” that provides both photos and voice instructions to guide you through the process of cooking some great new recipes. You can search the menu by ingredients or dietary choices, and send dinner invitations to friends. And to make sure nothing gets burned: It comes with a timer.
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is $7 and is full of sexiness and violence—this time set in the mob-controlled underground of Liberty City. You probably already have a pretty good idea of whether or not this is your kind of thing, right?
iReg is a $1 app that turns your Apple Watch into a voice recorder—then shares the sound file back to your computer via email or AirDrop, or with the world via social networks. Great for journalists, students, spies, and Dick Tracy.
Pigment bills itself as “the only true coloring book experience for adults: Choose from 200-plus hand curated, professionally drawn illustrations, 8 different kinds of pencils, markers and brushes, and an unlimited number of colors to choose from.” Subscribe to the Premium Access feature, and you’ll have new pictures to color every week.
Practice+ is a “complete practice and performance toolkit” for musicians, working as a tuner, metronome, recorder, and more. The latest update includes Dropbox integration, 3D Touch capabilities, and a number of bug fixes.
Service is kind of a more interactive, more immediate Yelp—you can complain about businesses, but the difference here is that the information will be relayed immediately to those businesses and enable them to respond quickly. Just tap the app, explain your complaint, and Service will run interference for you. The, um, Service is completely free, for now at least.
We’re always on the lookout for better get-stuff-done apps, and the $1 Tasker looks like it might fit the bill. You can add tasks, filter them by custom categories, link tasks to contacts, photos, maps, or links, and share everything on social media. Buying this app is on our to-do list.
