The Outbound is a free travel app that orients (get it?) you to local outdoor travel adventures—spots to hike, camp, and generally get back to nature, even if you live in the middle of a big city.
The makers of the $1 Agenda Widget+ say that the native iOS calendar is a very good app—but the widget for it only shows items on today’s agenda. This app solves that issue, displaying upcoming events; calendars can be customized to show only a certain number of events or range of dates. This week’s update of the still-young app adds support for Hebrew and Japanese service.
The $5 Interact is the latest contacts app for power users—it lets you create, delete, and manage contact groups, arrange the default ordering of email, phone, and other details to fit your needs, and allows you to use your contacts with a growing list of third-party apps for messaging, mapping, and other tasks previously not possible on iOS.
This app isn’t exactly new, but it’s worth looking at again. Lifeline… is a sort of choose-your-own adventure story set up as a game. The game takes place in “the aftermath of a crash landing on an alien moon. Taylor is stranded, the rest of the crew are dead or missing, and Taylor’s communicator can only reach you.” Your job: Help Taylor stay alive. Notifications bring new messages from Taylor throughout the day—you can either respond in real time, or later when you have free time. The creators say it can be played multiple times, since there are many possible outcomes.
Pendo is one of our favorite productivity apps, with features that include notes, to-do lists, and a calendar. This update includes new themes, a night mode, and a feature where your original event description is included in the notes of calendar entries.
The new Pocket Mortys is for fans of the twisted “The Adventures of Rick and Morty” animated show. The game takes you through alternative universes and allows you to collect different versions of the same character from each universe: Thus you can end up with Mustache Morty, Wizard Morty, Cronenberg Morty, and more to team up and solve the game’s challenges.
Technically, Ten Pound Challenge started January 10, but we seen no reason you can’t follow the exercise agenda laid out in this app on your own timetable. It’s still the New Year! You can still keep those resolutions!
WayUp is an app to help college students get jobs. You’ll need a .edu email address, but once you get access you can fill out a survey to describe your skills; then you’ll see and be able to apply for jobs that you’re qualified for. The latest update includes new filters to help you better target your job search to match your skills.
