When Apple sent out the invitation for its March 2 press event a week ago, it was clear a new iPad was on the agenda. Still, there were plenty of surprises to be had Wednesday when Apple pulled back the curtain on the iPad 2—including an unexpected appearance by Apple CEO Steve Jobs who didn’t let his leave of absence from Apple stop him from leading Wednesday’s big event.
We cover every twist and turn from Apple’s iPad 2 event Wednesday, including its previews of iOS 4.3, a universal version of iMovie, and GarageBand for the iPad. I’m joined by editorial director Jason Snell, senior editor Dan Moren, and staff editor Serenity Caldwell for a blow-by-blow account of all of Wednesday’s happenings.

Both Jason Snell and Dan Moren spent some hands on time with the iPad 2, which they also captured in slideshow and video form. Our iPad 2 index page will have our ongoing coverage of Apple’s new tablet.
Besides the iOS previews, Apple also announced a pair of iPad 2 accessories, and Steve Jobs had some data on iBookstore.
