If you want a decent iPad Pro but don’t feel like paying the usual iPad Pro prices, then you should head to Amazon and check out the 64GB 2017 10.5-inch iPad with Wi-Fi and Cellular that’s selling for just $579. That’s only around $169 off the usual selling price, though, which is why I think you should check out the 512GB model instead. It’s on sale for $719, which is a whopping $410 down from the normal price of $1,129. With that kind of room, you should never have to worry about overfilling your iPad by downloading every single Apple Arcade game or Apple TV+ show (when it comes out).
It’s the lowest price we’ve ever tracked for this model, and while we have seen it priced this low before, the last time it was at this price was way back in August.
Now, is it a good buy? We gave it a perfect score when we first reviewed it, but today it’s a tough call. The new iPad Air and iPad mini both have an A12 processor and generally sell for less money, while this iPad Pro has an A10X Fusion chip in it. It’s certainly not bad, but for comparison, the brand-new entry-level 32GB $329 iPad (without cellular) has an A10 Fusion in it. By further comparison, the 2018 11-inch iPad Pro has a beastly A12X processor in it that basically blows this model’s chip out of the water. You won’t need that kind of power for the vast majority of apps, though.
You’ll at least get a 7 megapixel FaceTime camera with this model and a laminated display (which makes it so the Apple Pencil feels like it’s more directly touching the screen). In other words, the other iPads are catching up. But if you want a large-screen iPad with good power and lots of room, this model won’t let you down.
