Thanks to the speed and power efficiency of the new M1 chip, Apple’s newest 13-inch MacBook Pro is among the best values you can get in a Mac laptop. And today it’s even cheaper. Amazon is selling the 512GB M1 MacBook Pro for $1,399 down from its usual $1,499 MSRP and matching an all-time low that we last saw in December.
This laptop has 8GB of RAM, 512GB of onboard storage, and a 13.3-inch display with 2560-by-1600 resolution and 227 pixels per inch. Of course, the big appeal is the ARM-based M1 chip with its integrated RAM, machine learning neural engine, the 8-core CPU, and an 8-core GPU.
In our review of the M1 MacBook Pro we gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars and called it “a revolutionary moment for the Mac.” We found the laptop offered incredible performance and the battery life was amazing especially when running apps that are native to the M1 chip. When it has to run things under the Rosetta2 compatibility layer, which runs seamlessly in the background, the performance is very good but not quite as fast.
Even so, the M1 MacBook Pro is an incredible little laptop with excellent performance at a great price. And with the savings, you can add on AppleCare Plus ($269) if you want a little extra peace of mind.
