Your unsurprising news for this Monday morning: Apple sold a lot of pre-orders for the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus last Friday. Over four million pre-orders in the first 24 hours, to be precise.

As it has been in years past, pre-orders opened in the wee hours of Friday morning and were plagued with server issues (likely due to the overwhelming demand for new iOS devices) until midday.

Apple’s no stranger to big pre-order numbers, of course: While the iPhone 5s’s early sales weren’t released, the iPhone 5 topped two million, while the iPhone 4 pre-orders rang in at 600,000.

Many who pre-ordered iPhone 6 and 6 Plus units will see them arrive at their doorstep on September 19 (or, in a new move, can pick them up in-store), but many more won’t see their new devices until October, as Apple has already sold through most of its initial pre-order supply.

If you missed out on pre-ordering and now find yourself with a hankering for a new iPhone, however, don’t despair: As always, Apple will offer a limited supply to customers at its retail stores beginning at 8 a.m. local time on September 19. We’ll have more advice on surviving a day-of wait later in the week, but an initial suggestion: If you want to ensure that you get your new device, show up at least two hours in advance. You’ll also be able to pick up phones day-of from Apple’s many carrier partners, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

U.S. residents and those in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the U.K. can pick up the new iPhone on September 19; those in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and United Arab Emirates will have to wait until September 26.
