Cables, speakers, and more
This week's roundup of accessories includes our favorite battery ever—it even has wood paneling, like the best station wagons of our childhood.
The $199 JookBox speaker is a “portable, multi-room wifi speaker” that lets you wirelessly chain up to ten speakers together through the house. Each device contains two 2.5-inch drivers to create a sharp sound, and is equipped with a lithium battery that can play back your music for up to ten hours between charges. It’s Apple AirPlay compatible, making it easy to share tunes from your iOS device.
iLounge says of this $19 product: “With this handy Apple MFi-certified 10-foot cable in your tech arsenal, you’ll never have to compromise your chillaxing multi-tasking again. It can easily stretch across the room to conveniently give you power wherever you decide to be.”
The $30 Highline is a protective case for the iPhone 6 that comes with a twist: It has a leash. One end plugs into the iPhone’s Lightning port; a strand of braided Kevlar acts as the leash with a loop on the other end that lets you strap the phone down to a carabiner, zipper, or belt loop. A $35 version is available for the iPhone 6 Plus.
New PC Gadgets
The $80 Tunes-Style is an acrylic mount built to display the latest models of the iPhone and iPod touch without risk of being stolen. “Combining style with function, Tunes-Style is ideal for all types of uses, including: retail, kiosk displays, trade-shows, educational, conferences, waiting rooms and dozens more.”
Dual Power Bank
What makes the $70 Dual Power Bank so awesome? (Aside from being able to charge two iPhones at once, of course.) Wood paneling. Never before has an iOS accessory felt as homey and luxurious as a 1970s station wagon.
The Long Distance Thunderbolt Connection cables come in 5.5-, 10-, 30-, and 60-meter lengths. They’re “perfect for use in situations where you need to separate your Thunderbolt peripherals from the computer.” And they’re both Thunderbolt 2- and Thunderbolt-compatible.
The $25 Freedom Handlebar Mount is built big enough to display your iPhone 6 on your bicycle’s handlebar, with a number of features—including a silicone “safety net” —designed to ensure your phone never leaves its mount and the mount never leaves the bike.
The $200 UE Boom is a wireless portable speaker with dual passive radiators to create a deep bass. It fits in a cupholder, or can be stashed away, and offers 15 hours of playback on a single charge. It pairs up with two Bluetooth devices at a time so you and your friends can take turns as DJ. It also works as a speakerphone.
