From deep-sea protection to wireless charging
This week’s roundup of new iPhone cases includes a waterproof case from Livelloo, a folio with built-in storage from Urban Armor Gear, and extra battery power from Unu.
Planning a summer diving or snorkeling trip? You’ll need your iPhone to take pics, but make sure you pick out a good waterproof case first. The Mermaid 5 (iPhone 5/5s; $80) is guaranteed by the manufacturer to be waterproof up to 80 feet while still giving you full access to all of the iPhone’s camera functions.
This rugged case not only protects against the elements and occasional drops, but it also enhances the iPhone’s sound, thanks to a built-in acoustic amplifier.
Finally, a mini Moleskine to match your notebook! The Classic Booktype Case (iPhone 6; $35) features a folio-style design with a rigid frame designed to hold your iPhone firmly in place.
The case comes with a convenient card slot in the back for either a credit card or photo ID, and includes an elastic band to keep the cover in place when your iPhone is not in use.
Alone, the iPhone isn’t compatible with wireless charging mats—but there are a couple of options out there if you’d like to try it out anyways. The Shell (iPhone 6 and 6 Plus; $97) allows you to recharge your iPhone wirelessly through any Qi compatible charging mat. (Note: This isn’t an Apple-approved charging method.)
Made from walnut wood, the case features a solid construction that prevents occasional damage. It also includes precise cutouts for your headphone jack and back-facing camera.
The Sarach Flip (iPhone 6; $70) is a leather case with a gorgeous hand-sewn saddle stitch pattern. It includes a magnetic cover, an inside pocket for stashing cash or cards, and cutouts for your Lightning port, back-facing camera, and headphone jack.
The MightyShell/Faceplate combo (iPhone 5/5S, 6, and 6 Plus; $60 to $70) combines a shock-absorbing rubberized shell with a sturdy faceplate to make an all-around protective case.
Designed to meet and exceed military test drop standards, the case sports a three-layered construction with raised edges that helps prevent cracks when your iPhone is placed face-down on a flat surface, and includes an anti-microbial faceplate that minimizes exposure to all those pesky germs without compromising your touchscreen’s functionality. The MightyShell comes in six combinations of catchy, solid colors for protection and style.
The Scarf (iPhone 5/5S, 5C, 6, and 6 Plus; $15) sports a lightweight, simple design for everyday use without adding too much bulk. The case prevents scratches and damage from bumps, has a special coating designed to improve your grip, and is available in black, gold, white, or light gray.

The Scout Folio (iPhone 6 and 6 Plus; $40) features all-around protection and provides additional storage thanks to its clever cover design—which houses three slots for credit cards, cash, and photo IDs.
The case sports an anti-glare cutout for the back-facing camera for taking halo-free photos, and is made from a rubberized material to improve your grip and increase protection.
If you’re looking for an ultra-slim battery case, the DX-Free (iPhone 6; $70) fits the bill—it measures a mere 13mm from screen to backplate. It doubles your iPhone’s battery life thanks to an integrated 2400mAh lithium battery, is easy to install and remove, and comes in silver, blue, black, or magenta.
The Bump Gear Plus (iPhone 6 and 6 Plus; $30 to $35) is an aluminum bumper lined with molded rubber that offers excellent protection with a minimalistic profile. It also features matching press-through button overlays that help keep out dust and dirt. The Bump Gear Plus comes in gold, silver, or space grey finishes that seamlessly match your iPhone’s original design.
