Keeping it positive
This week’s roundup of new and updated apps inlcudes FoodChasers, which features only good restaurant reviews. Negative reviews? That’s what the rest of the Internet is for! Read on!
Disney Dream Treats
In Disney Dream Treats “players will help Mickey, Minnie, Ariel, Belle, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and more favorite characters welcome guests to famous Disney eateries and serve up mouth-watering treats through more than 100 levels of puzzle matching fun.”
The $10 Drafts 4 is one of the more powerful text-composing apps in iOS-land. The latest update includes an Apple Watch complication—tapping on it launches the app in “dictation capture” mode for a new draft—as well as new keyboard command key types to toggle between the drafts and actions lists.
In a world of grumpy grumps, FoodChasers is Mr. Positivity. It’s a food review app that only shares positive reviews. That’ll come as a relief to restaurant owners who think bad Yelp reviews are sometimes maliciously planted. And really, wouldn’t you rather know where you should eat instead of where you shouldn’t?
The $8 NBA 2K16 is a continuation of one of our favorite iOS game franchises. As always, it features the latest rosters and graphics upgrades, to let you feel ever-closer to that magic moment when you’re actually coaching—or playing for—a real NBA team.
Overcast, one of the more popular podcast players has relaunched in Version 2.0.(There’s a reason why Apple’s native iOS app strangely hasn’t put them out of business.) This version lets you stream episodes, instead of downloading them in their entirety. It also supports chapters, features a play-by-priority option, and includes a number of other bug fixes and improvements.
Wotsopen is a free iOS app that lets you know, natch, what’s open: It “pulls in all available opening times of places around you and sorts them into 5 quick access categories: Eat, Drink, Shop, Get Cash, and Things,” the latter category of which includes fun places to go like movie theaters, museums, and more.
Others of note
Tweetbot 4 has launched with 3D Touch support … ProCamera (pictured) now allows you to shoot 4K video … Google Translate has adopted split-screen multitasking, making it easier to deciper that German-language email you just got. Speakiesy is basically the original version of Facebook—a social network that lets you connect with your campus using your .edu mail. Remember that?
