Fun and games

It’s the dog days of late winter. Time to have a little fun—this week’s roundup features a number of games. Enjoy! And read on!

Assassin’s Creed Identity

The $5 Assassin’s Creed Identity is set in the Italian Renaissance; you can use your assassin to “complete dozens of missions and unravel the epic mystery of The Crows,” evolving from novice to master along the way. The graphics are certainly high-powered: You can only play this game if you have the third-generation iPad and newer, iPad mini 2 and newer, or iPhone 5 and newer. Plus, you’ll need an online connection to play.

Clash Royale

Clash Royale is a freemium “real-time multiplayer game” from the maker of Clash of Clans, requiring you to knock enemy kings and princesses from their towers to win trophies, crowns, and more. You can challenge clanmates and friends to private duels, or form your very own “battle community.”

Delayd “makes it easy to schedule SMS, Emails, Facebook Posts and Tweets for a future time and date.” Just set it and forget it, as they say. The app is free, but you’ll have to pay to schedule the SMS messages: A bundle of 50 costs a buck.

Futurama: Game of Drones

Here’s another freemium game: Futurama: Game of Drones lets you play as a Planet Express employee, flying through 3D worlds and solving puzzles as you herd delivery drones on their assignments.

Hound is the latest digital assistant app—just in case you find that you’re not interested in using Siri anymore. You can ask for information about time and temperature, local restaurants, navigation and directions, or search for videos, news, photos, and much more.

The $5 LumaFX is a video editor that lets you do color correction, as well as add color effects, styles, blurs, and distortions in a variety of combinations so that you can custom-create effects for your iOS video.

Just when we’ve seen every possible permutation of weather app: Poncho offers forecasts from a GIFable, joke-making cat. Because of course.

The Walking Dead: Michonne

The Walking Dead: Michonne is based on the comic book series, not the TV show, and takes you on a journey of explaining her character’s absence between issues No. 126 and 139. This game is part of what will be a three-part miniseries.

Others of note

Google Maps now lets you add detours to your route … MLB At Bat has returned for another season … Foodie is a photo filter app designed especially for your food pics.
