Aliens vs. Pinball

In space, no one can hear you DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING! The freemium Aliens vs. Pinball app combines three pinball tables—Aliens: Pinball, Alien: Isolation Pinball, and Alien vs. Predator Pinball—into one game featuring the voiceovers and sound effects pulled from the original movie franchise.

Angry Birds Action!

If you want your pinball action just a little less chest-burstingly violent, Angry Birds Action!—a freemium iOS offering based on the forthcoming movie—lets you save eggs while bouncing off some obstacles and destroying others. On second thought, maybe this isn’t less violent than the Aliens pinball game.

The new Aurora app lets you search for new podcasts—subscribe to a whole series, or just queue up a single episode—you can share them, see the recommendations from editors of the app, then listen to a feed of your favorite shows.

Periscope now has a live sketching feature that allows you to make drawings right on the screen, even as you live broadcast video from your phone. Just tap and hold while live, then select the “Sketch” option. Other improvements to the updated app include new viewer and watch time statistics, so you have a better idea of your audience.

Talkshow bills itself as “texting in public”—which is how we used to describe Twitter. This is a little different, though: “Notify your followers when your Talkshow is live: your audience can like your messages, send reactions and ask to join you as a co-host. Share your Talkshow to the web so the world can see what you’re talking about.”

Word Flow is another new iPhone keyboard from Microsoft—this time made to facilitate one-thumb typing: An “Arc” mode is built to accommodate your thumb’s range of motion. So far, it’s only available in English.
