This week's roundup includes a new app from everybody's favorite supermodel doll. Read on!
Barbie Sparkle Blast
Barbie Sparkle Blast (free, iPhone and iPad) lets you “travel with Barbie and her friends to incredible places throughout the world and have fun helping them solve challenging puzzles.” You can play Match 3 games, mix and match Barbie’s outfits, and share your progress with family and friends.
All in One
All in One ($3, iPhone) is pitched by its makers as the “ultimate app”—it combines a to-do list with a calculator and a notes function. It also includes a secure “vault” where users can store private information like passwords, sensitive emails, and more.
Blin.gy (free, iPhone and iPad) lets you insert yourself into more than 40,000 music videos by America’s favorite artists. “Dance alongside Beyonce, lip sync with Ariana Grande, or be super silly with Justin Bieber” and who knows? Maybe you’ll go viral.
Cassette (free, iPhone) records and transcribes audio in real time using your iPhone's built-in microphone. You get a half hour of free transcription for your first conversation. After that, you’ll pay a subscription fee of $10 a month for three hours of transcription, or $25 a month for up to 10 hours of transcription.
We’ve seen apps that let you push the spare change from your debit-card payments to savings. Movements (free, iPhone and iPad) works the same way, except that the small bits of leftover money are pushed to charities and nonprofit agencies instead.
Timeless (freemium, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch) is a guided meditation app. It offers instruction designed by expert teachers and experienced meditators, as well as tools to track your progress in developing a meditation practice. The benefits? Feel more peaceful and less stressed.
Urban Movie Channel
Urban Movie Channel ($7 a month, iPhone and iPad) was created by the founder of BET, and “showcases feature films, documentaries, original series, stand-up comedy, stageplays, and other exclusive content for African American, urban and diverse audiences.” New content is added every month.
