Behold, the most powerful Mac ever
Apple on Monday introduced a new Mac for professionals—but it wasn’t a Mac Pro. No, it's the new iMac Pro, and Apple says it's the most powerful Mac the company has ever released. You can get the full lowdown on the specs of the $4,999 machine, but you want to know what it looks like, don’t you? We have a few pictures in this slideshow.
Glorious space gray
To differentiate from the rest of Apple’s iMac line (which the company also upgraded), the new iMac Pro has a “space gray” aluminum case. And the pictures don’t do it justice. It looks way cooler and more sophisticated in person.
Magic Trackpad 2 and keyboard
You can’t have a space gray iMac case without matching accessories. The included Magic Keyboard (which has a numeric keypad) is also clad in space gray. And you have the choice of a space gray Magic Trackpad 2, or (see next slide)...
Space gray Magic Mouse 2
A space gray Magic Mouse 2 is also available. I’m not usually a fan of Apple’s mouse, but the space gray version is gorgeous.
iMac Pro ports
The iMac Pro includes four Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports, four USB 3 ports, and a 10-gigabit ethernet port. There’s also an SD card slot and a headphone jack.
In time for the holidays
The new iMac Pro comes with either an 8-core, 10-core, or 18-core Xeon processor, 32GB of memory, a 1TB SSD, and Radeon Vega graphics. Prices start at $5,000 and will be available in December. Read more about the iMac Pro.
