Head over to Amazon today, and you’ll find a heavy discount on the new iPad Air. The online retailer is selling both the cellular and Wi-Fi-only models for anywhere from $30 to $40 off and that includes multiple configurations. If B&H Photo is more your speed, you’ll find many of the same deals over there as well.
On the least expensive end, today’s deal lets you grab a 64GB Wi-Fi only model for $469, down from the normal price of $499. For the big $40 discount, you’ll want to check out the 256GB model with Wi-Fi and cellular that’s on sale for $739, down from $779.
Here’s a rundown of other features you can expect:
- A12 Bionic chip
- 8MP back camera
- 7MP FaceTime HD front camera
- Apple Pencil support (first-generation)
- Touch ID
It’s a great device, even though nothing about it is exactly new. As we said in our review from April, it hits the “sweet spot for most users.” Here’s how we wrapped it up at the time:
“While I think Apple’s product lineup is getting too big and complex, we legitimately need a solution in the middle, and the iPad Air fits in nicely. For $499 you get a huge step up in features, performance, and storage over the $329 iPad. You miss out on a number of benefits of the iPad Pro: a ProMotion display, quad speakers, Face ID, a superior camera, faster A12X processor, and support for the new-and-improved wireless Apple Pencil. But you get most of what the average iPad buyer wants most: a fast modern processor, plenty of storage space, a wide color display with TrueTone, Pencil support (first-generation), and yes, a headphone jack.”
