The Ladybag is a great start from Mobilis, part of a women’s range we hope will be extended in coming months. Style and build are both attractive and practical and discreet enough not to attract unwanted attention on your travels.
In recent years manufacturers and designers have finally woken up to the fact it’s not just men who are lugging laptops around for work and even pleasure. There’s now a decent choice of colourful attractive female friendly laptop bags and sleeves that are fashionable and chic rather than dull and unappealing.
Mobilis are best known for a range of durable protective bump cases, briefcases, custom made cases and covers for laptops and mobile equipment. Best suited to businessmen, the company has recently launched a smaller range – Ladybag, Netcover and GPS pouch – aimed at women.
The Mobilis Ladybag fits any MacBook or laptop to 15.4-inch and weighs in at a fairly portable 1.27 lbs. Promising to combine the practicality of a briefcase with the design of a handbag, the Ladybag gets the balance between style and function just about right. The bag is chocolate brown with a subtle brown and blue flower motif on the front bottom right corner. That same motif continues more vibrantly in a rather plush padded interior that includes a dedicated laptop pocket for additional protection.
The muted exterior colours are worth noting if you don’t want to draw too much attention to that fact you are a woman carrying around a laptop or need to appear formal and businesslike for work. For anyone who needs to be organised, the Ladybag comes with a fair selection of pockets and compartments to carry your everyday essentials, although the outer pockets, one on each side, aren’t zipped but held in place by magnets. A removable accessories pouch is also included, which may come in handy if you just need your keys, credit card or phone.
Build is good without offering the more heavy duty protection available on the market or from other Mobilis accessories. Two comfy well-stitched carry handles should be sufficient for everyday use, while a padded detachable shoulder strap offers additional carry options. The exterior of the bag is durable and cleans up well, although the interior, being light, may be more of a chore to keep looking new.
