Apple’s newest MacBook Air launched in March 2020. Whether you’ve picked up the latest version or own a 2018/2019 version, the good news is a case that fits one should fit any of those models.
The MacBook Air 2020 is slightly thicker than its predecessor but by a marginal 0.02in.
Keep in mind, however, that cases for Airs before 2018 won’t fit any of the new machines. For older MacBook Airs we have a separate round up of the best cases and sleeves.
If you have a new MacBook Air you will want to keep it protected and looking fresh for as long as you can, which is why we’ve looked into the best cases for the latest MacBook Air. You can also find some options on Apple’s website, but these start at £39.95/$49.95.
Whether you’re looking for something cute and stylish, rugged or a simple shell case, there’s something on this list for you.
Inateck 12.9in Laptop Sleeve

The Inateck Sleeve is a classy option and one we’ve recommended before. It fits the MacBook Air and even the 12.9 in iPad Pro, which means you could swap it if you wanted to.
The felt absorbs shock and prevents scratches, while the material lining the inside is mould-proof and wear-resistant. Plus for less than £15/ US$15 it’s a bargain.
Pluma Laptop Sleeve

Available in four Apple-friendly colours, this minimalist neoprene sleeve is built to fit the 13in MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.
It’s a snug fit being just 2.5cm thick, and lightweight at 170g.
Its outer surface is made of treated polyester that has a water-resistant coating to repel spills and stains. It features a quad-stitched full-length zip.
With a neoprene middle layer and spandex inner it can absorb shocks.
Inside there’s a pen loop to carry your stylus or pen.
It will also fit a 12.9in iPad Pro.
Choose your colour from Herringbone Grey, Macaron or Carnation Pink, and Denim Blue.
Kuzy MacBook Pro 13in Sleeve

Here’s another sleeve option if you’re after a sophisticated look. It’s available in a broad range of colours, including a vibrant teal and pink.
The top flap closes magnetically, and a soft divot in the opening allows you to easily remove the MacBook Air from the sleeve – and impressively, a cutout on the side allows you to charge your Mac while it’s still in the case.
There’s also an additional pocket at the back of the case where you can store papers and documents.
Available for £25.04/£22.99 on Amazon.
Supcase Unicorn Beetle MacBook Pro Case

The Unicorn Beetle from Supcase (short for super case) is a style we often recommend. It’s a hard case that’s strong, sturdy and reliable.
The base is fully vented so your laptop doesn’t overheat. It combines TPU and polycarbonate and comes with an all-round bumper for maximum protection. Plus, the transparent casing will allow the natural colour of your MacBook Air shine through.
Available on Amazon for £26.99/US$29.99.
Fintie MacBook Air Clear Case

If you prefer a hard case without any distracting protective ornamentation, this clear hard case from Fintie may be the right for you. It’s lightweight and fully vented so your MacBook won’t overheat.
Fintie also has a number of cute decorative options like this paisley one for £13.99/ $19.99.
The clear Fintie case (pictured) is available on Amazon for £14.99/ US$15.99.
Kecc MacBook Air 13 Retina Case

If you’re interested in cases with a bit more pizzazz, KECC creates colourful options with a whole bunch of different patterns to choose from. The cases come with a keyboard cover as well.
The front cover is made of hard plastic and is coated with a rubber oil paint to minimize fingerprints and scratches, while the bottom shell has rubber feet and ventilation slots to prevent overheating.
Mosiso MacBook Air 13 Case

Similar to KECC, Mosiso also offers beautiful graphic cases that come with keyboard covers – except you also get a screen guard for additional protection. The front cover is also translucent so the Apple logo can shine through (depending on which style you choose). The brand offers a 1-year warranty if you run into any trouble.
