The iTunes Store is to sell movies from the internationally respected Sundance Film Festival.
The film event will sell 32 of this year’s 71 movies — including documentaries and animations — through iTunes in the US. All the downloadable titles and an extra selection of short films will also be streamed for free through the Sundance website, until 18 April.
Movies will be made available for iTunes purchase for three years from 22 January. A selection of film-focused podcasts will also be made available.
iTunes is taking a 30 per cent cut of the $1.99 price tag, with movie makers taking 67 per cent and Sundance taking what’s left.
The movie move is described as a “one year experiment”.
