Apple has reduced the cost of Xserve RAID systems by up to 8.5 per cent, following the introduction of new high-capacity drives for such systems earlier this week.
Xserve RAID systems can now hold up to 10.5 terabytes of data on 14 hot-swappable Apple Drive Modules (ADMs) thanks to new 750GB ADMS, which have been made available as build-to-order options.
New prices and the new storage capacity mean Xserve Apple is now offering storage for an astonishingly low £0.94/GB (including VAT), or £0.80/GB (excluding VAT).
New prices are:
— Xserve RAID 1TB/four 250GB Drives/Dual 2GB Fibre Channel Ports, £4,199 (including VAT) — Xserve RAID 3.5TB/seven 500GB Drives/Dual 2GB Fibre Channel Ports, £5,699 (including VAT) — Xserve RAID 7TB/fourteen 500GB Drives/Dual 2GB Fibre Channel Ports, £8,599 (including VAT) The company also confirmed it has sold over 100 petabytes of Xserve RAID storage since launch.
