Cisco chief development office Charlie Giancarlo has revealed some of the ways in which his company is working with Apple to make Cisco’s iPhone “interoperable” with Apple’s iPhone.
Following a dispute regarding who had the rights to the iPhone trademark, Apple and Cisco agreed that they would both use the iPhone name on their products. The companies also pledged to “explore opportunities for interoperability in the areas of security and consumer and enterprise communications” in a joint statement issued in February.
Giancarlo told Cisco and Apple iPhone ineroperability: “Cisco wants the Apple iPhone to work with its corporate phone systems. A partnership would allow users to get the same services, such as instant messaging and teleconferencing, on their Cisco desk phones and Apple iPhones.”
