Memory Plus has announced the world’s highest capacity CompactFlash card – a gargantuan 640MB.
The card has been tested and approved by Eastman Kodak, and is compatible with Kodak cameras using current firmware. Memory Plus claims the card offers average write speeds of 1.94MB per second with the LCD display on, or 2.1MB per second with the LCD switched off.
The card is encased in metal for enhanced durability. The company’s marketing director, Dave Flack, said: “We don’t see the average digital photographer wanting to buy this card just yet. We see this as a solution for a number of industrial and corporate applications. It’s also ideal for some applications in the handheld market.”
The is part of Memory Plus’s MemoryGold range and ships in two weeks. Pricing is yet to be announced.
